Background

Homecia “Meesha” St. Clair, MSN, MSHS, CNM, PMHNP-BC is a certified nurse midwife and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner hailing from Jacksonville, Florida. She began her post-secondary education at The Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida where she received a Bachelor of Arts in English Education in 2008. Later, she saw the need for quality nurses in her community and returned to school and obtained her Registered Nurse Diploma from U.S. University in Chula Vista, California in 2012, followed by the Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2013. Simultaneously, Ms. St. Clair completed her Masters in Health Science and Health Education from Trident University International in 2013.

Ms. St. Clair began her nursing career in 2012 Neurosurgery and Medical-Surgical units in Jacksonville, FL, but when she started in Women’s Health in 2013, she found her calling. It was during this time that she acquired her love for adolescent health care, birth control, STD counseling, and obstetrics. After working in this setting under the instruction and guidance of a Certified Nurse Midwife, her vision became clear and her journey to midwifery and reproductive health began.

During the summer of 2014 she was accepted to the founding school of nurse midwifery, Frontier Nursing University. While enrolled, she relocated to South Carolina where she began working with mothers and babies in the inpatient setting. Winter 2017, Ms.  St. Clair graduated from Frontier Nursing University with a Master of Science in Nurse Midwifery.

While practicing midwifery in North Carolina, Ms. St. Clair noticed the lack of mental healthcare support among her patients. Upon deeper investigation, she found that many patients she was cared for were in need of mental healthcare care services, but did not feel safe going into the community. Many appointments were spent counseling and providing a safe place for patients to verbalize their life's concerns, there was an apparent need for culturally competent and socially protected mental health care.  Ms. St. Clair answered the call to gain an additional certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in 2019, and is now a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Her specialties include depression, anxiety, PTSD and Imposter Syndrome.
